Otter | Maritime Tracking
Otter is a global maritime tracking and emergency alert system designed to improve the management of risk in remote and high risk maritime environments. The device, which features a panic alarm and optional text messaging functions, is satellite-based and can operate anywhere in the world, independently of local infrastructure.
Tracking
The Otter continuously monitors a vessel’s position and alert status, automatically transmitting its precise location back to the operating company, via Track24’s web-based crisis management software, the C4i platform. Using this application, operations managers can interrogate the Otter terminal onboard a vessel for a current position report, and remotely configure the terminal’s reporting rate.
Panic alarm
When a panic button is pressed, a visual and audible alarm will appear on the C4i platform in less than a minute. At the same time, alerts will automatically be forwarded to nominated recipients by SMS and e-mail.
Messaging and Navigation
The optional Messaging and Navigation Application (MNA) provides 2-way satellite text messaging and GPS navigation. The software package can be loaded onto a PDA, tablet PC or laptop.
