Armadillo | Vehicle Tracking

The Armadillo is a robust global tracking, communications and crisis management device that provides global vehicle tracking, text messaging and panic alerts. Armadillo is the mainstay product for security companies, governments, NGOs and reconstruction companies operating in hostile regions.

The Armadillo operates independently of local infrastructure and can work anywhere in the world. The system is integrated into the Track24 C4i platform, allowing users access to all command, control, crisis management and GIS functions.

Using an L-band satellite transponder with an integrated panic alarm and handheld messaging and navigation device (MNA), Armadillo provides a dependable security tracking system even in the most remote and dangerous parts of the world.

Tracking

Armadillo sends regular position reports from two minute intervals upwards - this can be reconfigured remotely through the Track24 crisis management software, the C4i platform.

Panic alarm

The panic alarm triggers a visual and audible alarm on the system in less than a minute. There is a backup battery - essential for high-risk operations where sending a panic alarm should not be dependent on vehicle power.

Messaging and navigation (MNA)

A fitted PDA provides an optional messaging and navigation facility. It acts as a two-way text messaging device between the internet application and the vehicle, monitors the performance of the tracking unit and provides a GPS position in latitude/longitude and MGRS format, speed and altitude. The data from the on-board GPS can be fed into the navigation application, displaying the vehicle location on the PDA's mapping. The navigation application allows drivers to follow pre-planned routes whilst the data logger allows the actual journeys to be downloaded onto a PC.

Installation

The unit can be installed in a vehicle in less than a minute. To reduce the profile, the antenna, which can see through glass and plastic, can be used on the dash of most vehicles with only a minor degradation in performance. Alternatively, the small antenna (4 inch diameter) has powerful magnets on its base that allow it to be placed on the roof or the car bonnet. Units can also be hardwired into the vehicle. Covert installation is also possible.
