Medical evacuation in Iraq
A security detail for a contractor in Iraq is driving on a road near Fallujah, 25 km from Baghdad, and one of Iraq's most infamous flashpoints. The vehicle is ambushed by insurgents who trigger an explosive device that disables the lead vehicle. The security team is pinned down by machine gun fire; one of the team is shot in the chest and is losing blood fast.
The team pushes the security tracker's panic button which displays an alert message on the Track24 crisis management software, the C4i platform, within 30 seconds. In response, the US military deploys a Quick Reaction Force by helicopter within minutes. The insurgents are beaten back and the casualty is flown to the military hospital in Baghdad and receiving life-saving treatment within 20 minutes of the incident.
If the response had been any later, the injured man would not have survived.
