Incident in Nigeria
A drunk driver on the airport road to Lagos loses control and crashes into a car carrying an executive working for an oil services company. Although no-one is injured, the crash has occurred in an area renowned for banditry.
Within seconds the car is surrounded by a gang of angry young men. The executive pushes the panic button on his personal safety device just before the window of the car is smashed and the gang drags him out the vehicle.
Back at the control room in the oil company's secure compound, the security manager receives a panic alert SMS on his mobile phone, while instantaneously, an alarm sounds. On the screen, the Track24 crisis management software , the C4i platform, displays the exact location of the incident on detailed digital mapping. He can hear what is going on through the embedded microphone on the executive's personal tracking device. A response unit of trained armed staff is deployed immediately, alongside a local police unit.
On hearing the sirens, the gang scatters and the executive, although shaken, is unharmed.
